THE CDA SCHOOL DISTRICT IS ASKING VOTERS TO APPROVE A 2-YEAR $25M LEVY ON MAY 16, 2023
$25M/year for the next 2 years
Equates to $95.21/$100,000 assessed property value.
SUPPLEMENTAL LEVY pays for ONLY the first payment of items that have continuous fees: MORE curriculum & applicable licenses, new staffing, software, more teacher compensation, etc. This levy will be ON TOP of the $330M Governor Little earmarked for school districts and teacher’s salaries.
The state is already budgeting next year's apportionment to the CDA School District; the district will be receiving an additional $6 million (in funds and benefits) next year than they did this year.
NEED TO DO SOME QUICK MATH?
2021 - Last supplemental levy voted/approved by community
Equated to $76.17/$100k taxable assessed property value
Example: If your home was assessed at $500,000 in 2021, you were paying ~$380.85/year.*
2023 - Proposed supplemental levy
Equates to $95.21/$100k taxable assessed property value
Example: Now your home is worth 2x as before, assessed at $1,000,000 in 2023. You will be paying ~$952.10/year.*
Did your rent go up in the last year? Be prepared to have it go up again to offset the higher tax burden on your property owner.
Being informed about the school district's levies are part of our duties as informed citizens. Don't get caught unaware of what's happening in our community; be prepared for May 16 by educating yourself on the levy and spread the word to your friends and neighbors.
